Dive equipment manufacturing pioneer; founded the Beuchat Society in Marseilles in 1934; inventor; credited with the invention of the surface buoy (1948), the first underwater camera housing (1950), the first isothermic wetsuit (1953), and the first vented fins (Jetfins, 1964).
