1945 | The CousteausJacques-Yves, Simone, Jean-Michel and Philippe Cousteau did their first dives as a family in the Mediterranean Sea near Marseille, France.

“Soon, we were diving as a family. By 1945, we each had our own set of equipment, which had by now been greatly improved. I was barely seven; Philippe was four and a half. My father had reimagined himself as a manfish, and we quite naturally went along for the ride.” — Jean-Michel Cousteau | My Father, The Captain: My Life with Jacques Cousteau (2012)
