38.85 km (24.14 miles) – A group of ten freedivers from the Glasgow-based West Coast Freedivers swam the record underwater distance in The Sir Matt Busby Pool in Bellshill, Scotland, on March 12, 2016. The relay dive, which covered a distance equal to swimming the English Channel, was accomplished in just under 3 hours. The event called “English Channel Freedive” was part of a fundraiser for the St Abbs Lifeboat.
