Marine biologist; shark diving pioneer and researcher into the reality of human/shark interactions; founder of SharkArmor Tech; inventor of the Neptunic Sharksuit, a flexible suit of armor to protect divers from shark bites (a.k.a. chain mail anti-shark suit), which has been featured in countless shark documentaries and news reports since 1978; first to dive with the white shark without a cage; photographer.

From SharkArmor

In the late 1970s, marine biologist Jeremiah Sullivan developed a flexible suit of armor for divers to wear while working around sharks and called it the sharksuit. Since then, it’s been referred to as metal mesh sharksuit, chainmail anti-shark suit, steel mesh sharksuit, neptunic sharksuit etc. but they all originate with him. In 2012 Jeremiah left Neptunic in the past to establish a new, more evolved brand. This new venture represents the renowned capabilities in protective solutions for the diving community that Sullivan has provided for the past 40 years, in addition to new protective technologies and materials for a wide range of hazardous activities.

As part of that commitment, Jeremiah continues to integrate his three+ decades of unique direct experience in shark research, anti-sharkbite technologies, solutions and skills into the most functionally effective sharksuits and other protective gear available. Many of the sharksuits designed and built by Jeremiah and his team continue to protect lives of professional divers on a daily basis the world over. This legendary work with anti-shark bite protection has proven instrumental in the development of the global sharkdiving industry, and remains the world standard among those who must work in hazardous circumstances with sharks in the open sea since 1978.
