Ashrita Furman hula hooped underwater for 2 min. and 38 sec. at the Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow, New York, on August 1, 2007, besting his record of 2 min. and 20 sec. set three months earlier at Island Dolphin Care in the Florida Keys. As of December 2017, Ashrita Furman has set more than 600 official Guinness Records since 1979 and currently holds more than 200 standing records – including the official record for the most records held at the same time by an individual.
