Founder of SSI (Scuba Schools International) in 1970; started skin diving at age 7 on Catalina Island (California); started scuba diving in 1960; opened his first dive store in Sidney (Nebraska), in 1965; founded the National Association of Scuba Diving Stores (NASDS) with John Gaffney in 1966; wrote the openwater diver text for Jeppesen-Sanderson in 1972; assumed control and ownership of Scuba Schools International in 1974; founded the Platinum Pro Foundation in 1997, providing scholarships to worthy kids for participation in programs like Scuba Rangers (a scuba program for kids 8-12).
