
First quadriplegic open water dive

2006 – On November 14, Matthew Johnson (USA) became the first ventilator dependent quadriplegic to scuba dive in open water off Tavernier Key, Florida. Johnston’s first dive to four feet for 15 minutes, then made a second dive to four feet for 10 minutes.
