Ex-RAF bomber pilot and test pilot; co-founded the British Sub-Aqua Club or BSAC with Oscar Gugen, Peter Small, and Mary Small, in 1953; opened the UK’s first dive school in Warfleet Creek, Dartmouth (Devon) in 1953. His first 3-day diving course cost only £5 ($8.60 USD); author of The Master Diver and Underwater Sportsman (1955); made the first crossing of the English Channel in a canoe; a.k.a. Skipper.
