Last updated: October 5, 2017 at 3:31 am

The Chinese giant salamander (Andrias davidianus) is the largest living amphibian in the world with a maximum length of 180 cm (6 ft). It lives in cool streams and lakes in China where it feeds on fish and crustaceans. It is critically endangered due to over-harvesting and the degradation of its environment from pollution and urban development.
