Competitive freediver and multiple recordholder; first person to dive to beyond 152.40 m (500 ft) on one breath of air; co-founder of AIDA with Roland Specker and Claude Chapuis in 1990; died while training for a new world record.

Jeffrey Gallant is the Editor-in-Chief and Records Keeper of the Diving Almanac. He is also a contributing editor of DIVER Magazine, and the scientific director of the Greenland Shark and Elasmobranch Education and Research Group (GEERG). Jeffrey started diving in 1982.
