Longest gestation period

The frilled shark (Chlamydoselache anguineus) may have the longest gestation period of any animal, including terrestrial animals, at approximately 3.5 years. The basking shark (Cetorhinus maximus) is also believed to have a gestation period surpassing three years. It is also the second largest fish in the world measuring up to 15.2 m (50 ft). The basking shark is found in all temperate oceans.
