National Geographic contributing photographer; author of several books, including Among Giants, a life with Whales (2011); freediver; regarded as the premier whale photographer of the world; has been part of a study of humpback whales off Maui, Hawaii, since 1996; assisted his father, Chuck Nicklin, teach scuba diving at age 14.

Jeffrey Gallant is the Editor-in-Chief and Records Keeper of the Diving Almanac. He is also a contributing editor of DIVER Magazine, and the scientific director of the Greenland Shark and Elasmobranch Education and Research Group (GEERG). Jeffrey started diving in 1982.
