Cinematographer and screenwriter (directed 22 films between 1952 and 2005); author; pioneered underwater colour photography while filming Sesto Continente (The Sixth Continent) in 1952; founding member of the Historical Diving Society and of the Marevivo Environmentalist Association; President of the Central Institute for Applied Marine Research, (ICRAM); editor of Mondo Sommerso from 1978 to 1982; directed the first underwater colour movie.
