Jeffrey Gallant grew up in Drummondville, Quebec, through which flows the Saint-François River, which he used to explore every day after school. He discovered the St. Lawrence River, its estuary, gulf, and the Atlantic Ocean on family outings to Canada's maritime provinces.
From an early age, Jeffrey was hooked on nature and water. He became a diver at the age of 14 and bought his first Nikonos underwater camera ten years later. Since then he has accumulated a large collection of photographs, which he shares in various formats and venues.
In 1997, Gallant started reproducing his best photographs in the form of watercolours. His favourite subject is the fauna of Canada's Atlantic coast. Each painting depicts animals as they appear in their natural setting.
Through his photographs and paintings, Gallant attempts to showcase the natural beauty and diversity of the underwater world and instill a sense of appreciation and conservation in those who view his work.
