Former President of the British Sub Aqua Club (BSAC); dove on the wreck of the Mary Rose (1975), a Tudor warship sunk off Portsmouth in 1545, making him the first member of the Royal Family to see the ship since Henry VIII watched it sink; dove under ice at Resolute Bay in the Canadian Arctic with Dr. Joseph MacInnis in 1975.
