Technical diver and cave diving instructor; author; geologist; founder, President and CEO of Halcyon Manufacturing; founder of Global Underwater Explorers (GUE) in 1998; key proponent of Doing It Right (or DIR), a holistic approach to scuba diving; training director of the Woodville Karst Plain Project (WKPP); member of the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society diving committee; board of directors of Florida Speleological Researcher (1998-2002); board of directors of the National Association of Cave Diving (1995–1998); Training Director of the National Association of Cave Diving (1997); board member of the National Speleological Society – Cave Diving Section (1996–1998); advisory board of the International Association of Nitrox and Technical Divers (1996-1998); University of Florida scientific diver (1993-1996); set a world record for the longest cave traverse (w/DPV) in 2007.
