Freediving and spearfishing pioneer; underwater weapons designer; co-founder of the Bottom Scratchers Dive Club (San Diego) in 1933, the world’s first freediving club; designed a dive mask with a single plate of glass that was fashioned after a stereoscope; developed an iron for harvesting abalone; designed an underwater rocket with Wally Potts for The Spy Who Loved Me.

Jeffrey Gallant is the Editor-in-Chief and Records Keeper of the Diving Almanac. He is also a contributing editor of DIVER Magazine, and the scientific director of the Greenland Shark and Elasmobranch Education and Research Group (GEERG). Jeffrey started diving in 1982.
