Engineer; inventor; developed a surface-supplied diving helmet and airtight canvas suit which was used by the Royal Navy; first helmet was a variation of the Deane brothers smoke helmet; founded Siebe Gorman Ltd with his son-in-law; also invented a dial weighing scale, an ice-making machine, a paper making machine, and a rotating water pump.

Jeffrey Gallant is the Editor-in-Chief and Records Keeper of the Diving Almanac. He is also a contributing editor of DIVER Magazine, and the scientific director of the Greenland Shark and Elasmobranch Education and Research Group (GEERG). Jeffrey started diving in 1982.
